Capacity Building: The project is designed to empower people to serve by providing thorough training, aligning with Sirius's goal of pulling "marginalised people into the mainstream of the economy".
Asset Management: The scope involves "private sector management skills" being harnessed to run core services, ensuring that hospitals and clinics meet preset quality standards. Failure to meet these standards would result in reduced payments, incentivising high performance.
Strategic Advisory: This operational work complements Sirius's advisory role, having previously consulted on strategies for the Department of Health.
Global Expertise: The agreement brings the expertise of ServiceMaster, a world leader in the sector, into the South African public health landscape.
Skills Transfer: A core component of this project is training local staff to perform their roles within the framework of the ServiceMaster charter, equipping them with world-class tools and systems.
Sustainability: The project focuses on ensuring long-term sustainability of healthcare assets, preventing the common issue where public sector assets become a "tremendous recurrent budget burden" due to poor maintenance.
